Richard and Barbara Basch Gallery

Here and There is a group exhibition featuring three current Ringling College students who have all had extraordinary experiences in the midst of global conflict.

While each body of work is vastly different from the next, this exhibition revels the common thread-that art is an outlet for processing events, experiences, and cultures.

Tori Abramov, a 3rd year Illustration student, is an accomplished painter who, for the last two years, has dealt with the stress of the Ukrainian War in her homeland while attending Ringling College. Many of her friends and family who have lost everything in this war-torn country, which compels to tell their stories through her art.

John Quigley, a 3rd year Illustration student, served eight years in the US Army with multiple combat deployments.  His experiences led him to a career as a private military contractor, otherwise known as a Mercenary. His time in the Middle East was captured with no-frills photography techniques that have been digitally painted.

Hamid Mubariz was born and raised in Afghanistan. He is currently in his 3rd year studying Business of Art and Design, Graphic Design, and Fine Arts. Hamid uses mixed media techniques to create images inspired by his life experiences.
