ABOUT:
Anthony Rice’s A Peaceable Kingdom presents a series of artist books conceived not as studies, but as complete works of art—each functioning as a cohesive visual and narrative whole. Structured like a novel, every page unfolds as a chapter within a larger, unified composition. Published in collaboration with The Ohio State University Library’s Logan Elm Press, these limited-edition Livres d’Artistes merge text and image in distinctive ways: while the written text remains consistent across each edition, every volume features entirely unique illustrations. The result is a collection of singular objects—no two alike—recalling the richness and individuality of illuminated manuscripts, where craftsmanship, storytelling, and visual expression converge.
