David Curtis: Unbound — Illustrations & Designs
March 24 - April 18, 2026
Selby Foundation Illustration Gallery
ABOUT:
Unbound — Illustrations & Designs showcases the vibrant and imaginative work of Brooklyn-based illustrator, book designer, and art director David Curtis. Drawing early inspiration from surf and skateboard culture along the Jersey Shore, Curtis brings a bold visual language to his practice—defined by bright color, psychedelic abstraction, and a playful disregard for scale. His compositions invite viewers to linger, revealing layered imagery and hidden details over time.
Alongside his illustration practice, Curtis works as a full-time art director, creating book covers for young adult and middle grade audiences. This exhibition highlights the dynamic range of his work, bridging commercial design and personal expression, and featuring projects created for a diverse roster of collaborators including Paramount Pictures, NASA, Wizards of the Coast, Legendary Comics, Penguin Random House, Amazon, and Discover Magazine.
