about the galleries

The Galleries + Exhibitions program of Ringling College of Art and Design includes exhibitions and activities that celebrate the work and production of students, faculty, alumni, and visiting artists in our seven on-campus galleries. With rotating programming, you will always find an exciting new exhibition, artist talk, lecture, or event to attend. Whether you’re an aspiring artist or someone who is curious about new forms of creative expression, we welcome you to expand and enrich your perspective with awe-inspiring work and thought-provoking insights from the art world. As one of the most visible and active avenues of engagement with the broader Sarasota community, our goal is to celebrate art as a vital part of the human experience and make the case for why creativity matters.

We don’t just help students create great exhibitions; we use exhibitions to help make great students.

  • Impressions and responses are two different aspects of art appreciation, each with its own characteristics and significance. Impressions refer to the initial thoughts, feelings, and perceptions that arise in an individual upon encountering a work of art. These impressions are often spontaneous and subjective, influenced by personal experiences, cultural background, and individual preferences.

  • Responses, on the other hand, encompass a more thoughtful and reflective engagement with an artwork. They involve a deeper analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of the artistic expression.

  • Collaboration lies at the heart of our creative endeavors. It is through the exchange of ideas, the fusion of diverse talents, and the synergy of our collective vision that we can create something truly extraordinary. Let us support and inspire one another, nurturing an environment where creativity flourishes and dreams take flight.
