Matt Myers: Blood & Bone & Gilt

Matt Myers: Blood & Bone & Gilt presents the interdisciplinary practice of artist, designer, and performer Matt Myers, whose work moves fluidly between fine art, illustration, mural painting, scenic design, and costume. A Ringling College alumnus and faculty member, Myers brings his professional experience into the classroom while continuing to explore the relationship between character, structure, material, and performance.

Drawing from his extensive work with hospitality, entertainment, and performing arts organizations—including major hotel and cruise lines, Disney Resorts, and opera—Myers approaches costume as both a sculptural form and a vehicle for storytelling. Through an iterative design process, his work considers how clothing and constructed forms can communicate narrative, identity, personality, and movement. Blood & Bone & Gilt offers visitors an opportunity to encounter this multifaceted practice and to see how professional experience, material experimentation, and pedagogy intersect within the work of a contemporary artist and educator.
